The east coast native made waves after independently releasing his first e.p fundraiser album for the unveiling of his mother and nephew. Tautoko caught the ear of 'Juse', co-owner of Auckland based record label MTC and led to a record deal with Empire/Warner Music NZ in 2012.

Tipene released his first single "West Side Hori" which charted in NZ Top 20 singles, voted in 20 best songs of 2012 and earned him a top 10 finalist nomination for APRA Silver Scroll 2013. The video generated 100,000+ hits on youtube in its first month.

Tipene is quickly becoming a household name with a strong online presence and a dedicated 30,000 strong fan base. Tipene produced 8 singles and music videos generating 2 million views on his youtube channel and has appeared at major festivals East Coast Vibes, Exodus, Raggamuffin Roadshow and will be making an appearance at SPLORE in feb 2016.

He has also had international success with his song "Doin My Thing ft Scribe" charting in the US TOP 100, opening for The Original Wailers (Bob Marley), Bone Thugs n Harmony and Joe Walsh (The Eagles).

Tautoko, Tipene's debut album features the elite of NZ musicians Che-Fu, Prince Tui Teka, Scribe, Sid Diamond, Dam Native, K One, Mareko and Majic to name a few.

Tipene will be touring his album from early 2016 where he will be announcing the launch of a new Independant record label "Native Niche" based in his hometown Hastings, NZ where he will be a hub supporting and path waying aspiring artists into the music industry.
